This fluid extract is a native American medicinal plant introduced to early settlers by Cherokee Indians who used it as a wash for skin diseases and sore eyes. Goldenseal root has been traditionally used as herbal support for the immune system.

Goldenseal's benefits can be attributed to its alkaloids, especially hydrastine and berberine. These alkaloids are strongly astringent and help reduce inflammation of mucous membranes. Hydrastine has also been reported to lower blood pressure and stimulate peristalsis, along with being an anti-tussive (relieves coughs).
Berberine and its sulfate, berberine sulfate, have been demonstrated to have been shown to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and immuno-stimulatory activity, as well.
Historically, Goldenseal has been recommended for soothing mucous membranes, including stomach, intestinal, vaginal and rectal.

Information from the Edgar Cayce Health Care Philosophy recommended Goldenseal to support the lymphatics, circulation, assimilation and elimination, and regarded it as an aide for soothing the lining of the stomach. It was sometimes suggested to reduce achy feelings. Cayce often referred to Goldenseal as "Life Everlasting" and recommended it to "create a high vibration in the blood supply".

Suggested Use:
As a dietary supplement, for short term use (up to 10 days), take 1/2 ml to 1 ml (approx. 14-28 drops) 3x daily in a small amount of water.
